Day 01. Fly to Lukla [2800m] and trek to Phakding [2600m]-3hrs, 200m descent: L-D
It is slow but steady stroll of about 4 hrs distance. The trail begins with nice walk through local Sherpa’s shopping mall. The trail is smooth until walking down to Thado Koshi and climb up and then the trail walks alongside Dudh Koshi River. Phakding is situated by the bank of the River.
Day 02. Trek to Namche [3480m]: 5-6hrs, 1000m ascent, 100m descent, B-L-D:
It is long and uphill walks through Jorsale village and Monjo. No mountain view until Top Danda from where one can get the first glimpse of Mt. Everest. But the scenery along the river gorges is soothing with rich vegetation and possibility of bird sighting. It is 5/6 hrs walk to the only local trading market of Namche Bazaar.
Day 03. Rest at Namche for acclimatization followed by day sight-seeing, B-L-D:
[Trek to Thami Sherpa Tibetan village (3750m) can be interesting side trip. It is 3-4 hrs walk to the village with 500m ascent, 50m descent. ]
Day 04. Trek to Tenboche [3870m]- 4-5hrs, 750m ascent, 350m descent, B-L-D:
the trail walks easy and flat until it descends down to Dudhkoshi river at 3200m. It is a pleasant place for a break before starting the day’s longest climb to Tengboche where Monastery welcomes you with beautiful view of the mountains.
Day 05. Trek to Pheriche [4240m]: 4-5hrs, 450m ascent, 70m descent, B-L-D:
the trail walks in a typical Nepali style. First part of the trail walks down to the River at Devuche and then climb all the way to Pheriche with few breaks, and one at Pangboche.
Day 06. Rest and a couple of hours hike for Acclimatization. B-L-D:
Day 07. Trek to Duglha [4620m]- 2-3 hrs, 400m ascent, B-L-D:
It is uphill walk but some people do trek as far as Lobuje. But we recommend only up to Dulgha for altitude’s reason.
Day 08. Trek to Lobuje [4930m]- 3-4 hrs, 300m ascent, B-L-D:
the trail climbs directly up the terminal of Khumbu Glacier for about one hour then left into the memorial area Chukpilhara, before reaching the summer village of Lobuje.
Day 09. Trek to Gorakshep [5160m]: 3-4hrs, 250m ascent, B-L-D:
the trail continues to climb to Gorakshep. The return trip from Lobuje to Gorakshep takes couple of hours, leaving enough time to continue to Kalapatthar. But it is better to stay at Gorakshep for the morning view of Everest from Kalapatthar (5545m).
Day 10. Trek to Kalapatthar and to Pangboche [3860m]-5-6hrs. 385m ascent, 1685m descent, B-L-D:
the most rewarding hike to Kalapatthar in the morning takes 1-2 hrs. This is the best vantage point for the view of Mt. Everest south face as well as Lho la (the pass between Nepal and Tibet), Changtse (northern peak of Everest). And then hike down to Pangboche is easy but it seems endless because of many uphill climbs. But after Pheriche it is rather easy walk to Pangboche.
Day 11. Trek to Kumjung [3780m]- 5-6 hrs, 150m descent, 100m ascent, B-L-D
Instead of taking the same route back we walk along the right side of the river from Pangboche and then have a lunch break by the river side at Phorste Thenga (3680m). This trail is popular for sighting of Himalayan Monal. And the climb down all the way to Mong- La for an hour and half and then easy walk to Khumjung, the beautiful Sherpa village in the region where Late Sir Edmund Hillary has founded a school for Sherpa kids.
Day 12. Trek to Monjo [2800m]- 5hrs, 10m ascent, 980m descent, B- L- D:
After Khumjung, the trail walks up hill until Shyanboche airstrip at 3790m and then down to Namche (3480m) , and then all the way down to Monjo. It is small village populated by mostly Rai ethnic community. There’s a small monastery for those who are interested in prayers.
Day 13. Trek to Thado-Koshi [2600m]- 4 hrs., 200m descent, B-L-D:
It is pleasant walk through scattered village and forest to Thado Koshi. The peak at the head of the valley is Kusum kangru [6367m].
Day 14. Trek to Lukla (2800m)- 4hrs. 200m ascent, B-L-D
