Swayambhunath is situated on the top of hill in west of the Kathmandu valley and is surrounded by many varieties of shrines and Temple. It is also known as Monkey Temple because a number of holy monkey live in and around the temple premises. Swayambhunath is one of the most sacred among Buddhist sites.
Bouddhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupa in Nepal. It is located about 11 km from the center and the northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. The stupa is said to be emtomb the remains of Kassapa Buddha. Over 50 Gompas surround this stupa. Today’s it remain an important place of pilgrimage and mediation for Tibetan Buddhist and local Nepalese.
Pharping is situated in the southern area of the Kathmandu valley on the road to Dakshin Kali.Pharping is a place where Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava attained the state of enlightment. There are two major caves blessed by Padmasambhava. Pharping has several monasteries temple and retreat centers including chatral Rinpoch’s Monastery and Retreat centre.
Lumbini is one of the holy site where the light of Asia, Lord Buddha was born. Lumbini has a number of temple including Mayadevi temple and several other which are still under construction. Many monuments monasteries and measum are also within holy site. Also there is the puskarini or holy pond where the Buddha’s mother took the ritual dip prior to his birth and where Buddha had his first bath.
Namobuddha is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal which is 40 km away from Kathmandu valley. It is known as the place where the Buddha one of his incarnation gave his body to a starving tigress and her cubs.
